The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adejare Adeboye, on Sunday declared that no individual comes into the world by chance, telling media practitioners that everyone is created for a divine purpose.

Adeboye made the remark during a thanksgiving service and special prayer session for journalists at the RCCG National Headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, where hundreds of media professionals gathered amid concerns over ethical challenges, safety risks, and economic pressures in the industry.

Speaking on the theme “Created for Greater Impacts,” the cleric said every individual is “an actor in a divine script,” stressing that God has a defined purpose and timing for each life.

“You didn’t come to this world by accident; you came by the plan of God. What you will become has been settled before the world began,” he said.

Citing biblical examples, Adeboye warned against impatience, noting that acting outside divine timing could derail destiny. He referenced Moses, who he said delayed his purpose after acting prematurely, and Jesus Christ, who waited years before fully stepping into His mission.

“God has a timetable for everything. There is a set time for you to play your part, and you cannot do it before God is ready,” he added.

The cleric also spoke on what he described as “divine alteration,” urging journalists to live responsibly and avoid actions that could negatively impact their destiny. He prayed for media practitioners, asking for divine guidance and protection in their work.

In his remarks, Pastor Oladele Balogun, Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, highlighted the critical role of the media in society, noting that journalists inform, analyse, and interpret events for the public.

He urged media professionals to remain objective and continue improving their standards, while calling on employers and government to better support and reward journalists for their contributions.

The event concluded with prayers for the Nigerian media, seeking wisdom, protection, and strength as practitioners carry out their duties.
