The powerful earthquake struck the west of the country and was felt across much of Colombia. The death toll so far stands at more than 130 confirmed fatalities, with nearly 600 people injured. Pereira is the city with the highest number of casualties, while in Manizales buildings, hospitals, schools and places of worship have been damaged. Six airports have been closed for safety inspections. Search and rescue operations are continuing.
