The burial activities leading to the final interment of the 7th and immediate past President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun, will commence this week in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Pastor Akinosun, who served as President of the Church from 2012 to 2020, passed on to glory on March 22, 2026, at the age of 81, after decades of dedicated service to God, the Church and humanity.

According to the burial programme released by the Church authority, the week-long activities will begin on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, with an Evening of Hymns and Testimonies at his residence on Prince Adeoye Adeosun Street, along Alao Akala Way, Akobo, Ibadan.

A Service of Songs will hold on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the CAC All Saints’ Chapel, Oba I.B. Akinyele Memorial Complex, Anlugbua, Bashorun, Ibadan.

The Christian Wake-Keeping is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his residence located at No. 14, Ifeolu Street, along IJEM Area, Airport, Ibadan.

The final burial rites will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026. Interment is slated for 10:00 a.m. at his residence. This will be followed by an Outing Service at the CAC All Saints’ Chapel, Oba I.B. Akinyele Memorial Complex, Bashorun. A reception in honour of the late cleric will thereafter hold at the Ibadan Civic Centre, Agodi Gate Road, Ibadan.

Pastor Akinosun’s life was marked by uncommon devotion to the Gospel and exemplary leadership within the Christ Apostolic Church. Renowned for his humility, administrative acumen and unwavering commitment to sound doctrine, his tenure witnessed significant spiritual and organisational growth within the denomination.

Born on February 27, 1945, Pastor Akinosun initially trained and worked as a plumber before responding to God’s call into ministry in 1972. He attended the CAC Bible Training College between 1973 and 1975 and later pursued further theological studies in Europe, studying in West Germany, Sweden and Belgium, where he obtained a degree in Biblical Studies from the Continental Theological Seminary.

Ordained as a Pastor in 1981, he served the Church in several capacities, including Lecturer at the CAC Theological Seminary, Ile-Ife; District Superintendent; Chairman of CAC Osogbo District Coordinating Council; General Superintendent of CAC Nigeria and Overseas; and ultimately, President of the Church.

A prolific author, Pastor Akinosun wrote twelve books on Christian faith and ministry. In recognition of his humanitarian contributions, he was conferred with the title of Justice of the Peace (JP) by the Osun State Government in 2002. He also served as Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Osun State Chapter, from 2002 to 2010.

As family members, church leaders and believers across the world prepare to bid him farewell, tributes continue to pour in for a man remembered as a faithful servant of God, an astute administrator and a spiritual leader whose impact transcended generations.
